Charter airline Travira Air signed on Tuesday a maintenance contract for its Boeing 737 aircraft with maintenance, repair and overhaul firm PT GMF AeroAsia at the Singapore Airshow in Changi.
The contract, which is valid until Oct. 3, 2013, was signed by GMF president director Richard Budihadianto and Travira CEO Rizwan Halin.
“Travira has been registered as a GMF customer with a long-term contract,” Richard said in a media statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
“The cooperation with Travira can be increased in accordance with demand.”
Travira offers charter flights for domestic and international destinations and focuses on mining, oil and gas companies operating in provinces such as East Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara and Riau Islands.
The airline operates various fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft such as Beechcraft, Boeing, Cessna and Hawker while its helicopters include Bell and Sikorsky.
“The cooperation with GMF is for the maintenance of Boeing 737 in line with our present capabilities,” Richard said.
The work is for airframe, engine and component maintenance and engineering services, which is expected to result in more income for GMF.
For Travira, the contract will increase its fleet readiness to serve customers and allows flexibility of maintenance, both scheduled and unscheduled.
“Travira Air is guaranteed that the maintenance work can be done because we already have a contract. This makes Travira one of GMF regular customers,” said Richard.
Besides Travira, GMF is also slated to sign contracts with 11 other airlines, including Indonesian airline Sriwijaya Air, Bangladesh-based United Airways; India-based Jet Airways; Nigeria-based HAG LAG Incorporation, Thailand-based NOK Air; US-based CIT Leasing Corporation and Orix Aviation; Vietnam-based VietJet Air; and Zimbabwe-based Avient.
