Pratt & Whitney Wins $200 Million PW4000 Advantage70(TM) Engine Order from Korean Air

SINGAPORE AIR SHOW -- Korean Air selected Pratt & Whitney's PW4170 Advantage70(TM) engine to power five new Airbus A330 aircraft. The agreement, valued at approximately $200 million, represents 10 firm PW4170 engines. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

"We are proud that Korean Air, one of the world's top airlines, has again selected Pratt & Whitney engines to power their new Airbus A330 aircraft," said Todd Kallman, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines & Global Services president. "This agreement further strengthens our already strong relationship."

Korean Air, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, is one of the world's top 20 airlines and top-ranked international cargo airlines. The airline offers flights to 119 cities in 40 countries. It is a founding member of SkyTeam, the global airline alliance.

Pratt & Whitney offers the Advantage70 both as a new engine and as an upgrade kit for existing PW4168 engines. The upgrade includes a suite of technology enhancements that can be incorporated into a fleet during engine overhaul. Advantage70 technology delivers superior engine performance, including a 2 percent thrust increase, more than 1 percent reduction in fuel consumption, increased durability, and reduced maintenance costs.
