Privately owned Lion Air is moving its Jakarta-Denpasar route
facilities next week from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's
terminal 1A to terminal 3 in order to improve its service, an executive
said Thursday.
"We will move the Jakarta-Denpasar service on May 30th because terminal 3 is more convenient. [The move] will help us attract more foreign tourists," the airline general affairs director Edward Sirait told the press.
He also said that the airline picked the Jakarta-Denpasar as the first route to be moved from terminal 1 because Denpasar was a hub connecting to tourist destinations such as Lombok, Ende, Labuan Bajo, and Maumere.
"Connectivity is very important to help develop business and tourism and Denpasar is a city that links the west and the east [of Indonesia]," he said.
The airline currently flies from Jakarta to Denpasar 13 times daily, and they plan to increase the number of flights this year.
He said that they will move more routes when the terminal's new apron is finished.
The routes include Jakarta - Lombok, Jakarta - Semarang, and Jakarta - Yogyakarta.
State owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II's terminal 3 manager Sugeng Hariadi said the participation of Lion Air increased the number of passengers in the terminal to 4 million.
