Qantas alert over 'seat selection' email scam

IN BRIEF | Qantas is warning travellers of an email scam involving fake 'seat selection' fees allegedly charged for an upcoming flight.
The airline has taken to social media channels including Facebook and Twitter to advise passengers of the fake emails, which allegedly come from 'Qantas Customer Services' and carry the subject line 'Seat Selection Fee Receipt'.
The emails – which do not contain information such as the traveller's name, flight number or any booking reference code – cite a fee for seat selection and also contains a 'Qantas Airways confirmation pdf.zip' file attachment which is believed to contain some form of virus or spyware.
Qantas is reminding its passengers that 'authentic' emails regarding seat selection include the customer's name and details of their specific booking, and do not include any file attachments.
