Cathay Pacific and Direct Maintenance say farewell to the B747-400

26 Oct 2012: Today Cathay Pacific and Direct Maintenance said farewell to the iconic B747 during a joint ceremony at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The B747 has been in operation on the Hong Kong – Amsterdam routing for 26 years of uninterrupted service. As from Winter Season 2012/2013 the modern A340-300 is now being deployed daily by Cathay Pacific to Amsterdam.

According Roger Meels, Technical Director: “For many of our staff the B747 is an aircraft we have grown up with in our careers. It is sad to see the B747 disappearing slowly. On the other hand we very much welcome the modern A340-300 of Cathay Pacific at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, for which Direct Maintenance is covering the line maintenance requirements. In addition our staff pay top attention to IFE and cabin maintenance, to ensure the Cathay Pacific passengers enjoy a comfortable journey. For those B747 enthusiasts, Cathay Pacific Cargo will be operating the B747-400F to Amsterdam for many years to come.”
