Emirates adds A380 to Melbourne route

Emirates today announced in a commitment to the Australian market it will begin operating and A380 daily service from Dubai into Melbourne and onto Auckland, giving passengers more opportunity to travel on the state-of-the-art aircraft.

The service will not only offer Victorian travellers a short-haul flight across the Tasman to Auckland, but open up a number of European destinations beyond Dubai serviced by the A380 including London Heathrow, Manchester, Paris and Rome.

Emirates Australasia Vice President Barry Brown said the airline looked forward to offering Victorian travellers the experience of this revolutionary aircraft and the best service in the sky on a state-of-the-art Emirates A380.

In 2009 Emirates introduced the A380 to the Australian market with a Dubai-Sydney-Auckland route, with this new route via Melbourne the second service demonstrating Emirate’s strong investment in and commitment to Australia.

Servicing the existing direct Dubai-Melbourne-Auckland route (EK406/407), Emirates also has two other daily services to Melbourne – EK408/409 via Kuala Lumpur and EK404/405 via Singapore.

“Emirates not only offers a world-class in-flight experience to travellers but a superior global route network.  The announcement of enhanced services into Melbourne comes as we receive delivery of our 20th A380 in our fleet and also introduce flights to Dublin from January - our 29th European destination,” Mr Brown concluded.
