AirAsia adds Sabah flights

AirAsia is introducing additional flights to two cities in Sabah - Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. From 6 February 2012, the low-cost carrier will add one extra daily service between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, taking the total frequency to 14 daily flights.

Also from this date, AirAsia will expand its services between KL and Sandakan from two to three daily flights.

Later in February, AirAsia will also boost Sabah’s international connections. Three extra weekly flights will be added to the Kota Kinabalu-Hong Kong route from 21 February, boosting the total frequency from daily to 10 flights per week.

“With these additional flight frequencies, our guests can look forward to added convenience and the liberty to pick the best flight times for their travels, as there are now more options on flight times available for these destinations. Furthermore, we are currently the airline with the highest frequency for the Kota Kinabalu–Hong Kong route, providing guests with seamless connectivity between these two places,” said AirAsia’s Regional Head of Commercial, Kathleen Tan.

The extra daily KL-Kota Kinabalu flight will depart the Malaysian capital at 1940, arriving in KK at 2215. It will then leave the Sabah state capital at 2240, arriving back into KL at 0110 the next day.

The new Sandakan flight will depart KL at 0940 each daily, arriving in Sandakan at 1230. The return leg will leave Sandakan at 1255, getting back into KL at 1535.

Finally the three extra KK-Hong Kong flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, leaving KK at 0640 and arriving in HK at 0935. The return service departs HK at 1005 and arrives back into KK at 1305.
