CHINA-China Southern Airlines expects to receive permission to operate Superjumbos on international routes to early next year. Chief Financial Officer Xu Jiebo told Bloomberg the carrier is currently in talks with the Civil Aviation Administration of China over possible routes and he expects clearance to be given “within the next few months”.
China Southern received its first of five Airbus A380 aircraft in October and will reportedly receive its second this weekend, ready for service on 19 December. The aircraft is currently in use on domestic routes between Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai. The A380 fleet is intended to challenge Air China’s dominance of international air travel on rotes to Australia, Europe and the US.
