Garuda to offer in-flight Wi-Fi next year

INDONESIA-Air passengers flying with Garuda Indonesia will have access to in-flight Wi-Fi from next year.

Speaking to press in Jakarta, airline President Director Emirsyah Satar said plans are being hatched to offer internet access on eight new aircraft. The communications infrastructure will be installed on Garuda’s newly imported Airbus 330-200s and Boeing 737-800NGs at a cost of US$100,000 per aircraft. According to the Jakarta Globe, the plans have been cleared by the Ministry of Transportation, which prohibits the use of communication devices on airplanes under current law.
