El Al Airlines has finalized an order for two additional Boeing 737-900ERs, adding to a previously announced order in March 2011, bringing its total order of the type to six (ATW Daily News, March 24). The additional order is valued at $179.2 million at list prices.

According to Boeing, the -900ER replaces the larger, single-aisle 757, which ceased production in 2004.
“These additional airplanes will help us expand our fleet to meet the growing demand from our customers and to serve the growing markets in our network,” El Al CEO Elyezer Shkedy said.

El Al operates an all-Boeing fleet of 42 aircraft.
