Aeromexico tentatively orders 90 737-8s, 10 787-9s

Aeromexico has signed a tentative agreement to buy 90 Boeing 737-8 Max and 10 787-9s in a deal worth $10.9 billion at list prices, the airline confirms.

Details of the timing for aircraft deliveries were not immediately available.

The Aeromexico deal increases Boeing's firm order backlog for the 737 Max to 639 aircraft, including 163 new orders added at the Farnborough air show in early July.

Aeromexico operates an all-Boeing fleet above the regional jet level, which is exclusively flown by Embraer jets.

The carrier had previously ordered two General Electric GEnx-1B-powered 787-8s in August 2006, and also planned to lease 787-8s from International Lease Finance.
