REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100)
investigation team from Russia has arrived in Jakarta to examine the
cause of the crash. There are several analysts from Russian Ministry of
Industry and Trade, Interstate Aviation Committee, United Aircraft
Corporation, and Sukhoi Civil Aircrafts, the team will actively involve
with Indonesian government to conduct the investigation.
Russian Embassy to Jakarta has also opened the crisis center to monitor the development of the evacuation. According to the press release issued by Russian Embassy, the plane carried 45 passengers, including eight cabin crews.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono accompanied by the First Lady Ani Yudhoyono and a number of ministers visited Sukhoi post in Lanud Halim Perdana Kusuma on Friday morning. He delivered his condolences to the family of the victims and encouraged them to be optimistic.
The wreckage of Sukhoi is seen in 250 deep foothills in Mount Salak at the height of 2,066 meters above the sea level. “The evacuation team has not yet reached the wreckage,” Indonesian National Army Col AM Putranto, said in Cipelang, Bogor, West Java.
The rescue is hampered by some factors, such as dense forest and steep cliff. “We hope the evacuation can be done today,” he added.
