SPEEA warns of Boeing strike

Settle issues without endangering state interests

I cannot believe the hard-nose line and the saber rattling that SPEEA is taking in their current contract negotiations with Boeing [“Union: ‘Very high chance’ of Boeing strike in February,” Business, Dec. 7]. The Chamber of Commerce in South Carolina must be doing back flips in glee. Did they learn nothing from the machinists’ strike outcome?

I believe that unions have done a lot to improve the plight of the common man in this country historically but this is way too far. At this point I would not blame Boeing one bit if they started making plans to fully divest itself of all manufacturing in this state.

Grow up, get a clue and settle this issue now without the threat of a strike. Our state needs these jobs and the tax base these jobs provide. I have felt great pride knowing my fellow citizens of Washington build the best airliners in the world. Do not take that from us.
