Garuda Indonesia announces its return to London

Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier for Indonesia, has confirmed that it will commence direct flights between London and Jakarta during 2013.
The airline will take delivery of four new B777-300ER aircraft this year, which will be the first aircraft in its fleet with the capability to operate non-stop between Indonesia and Western Europe, even when fully laden with passengers and cargo. The new aircraft will be configured with 184 Economy Class seats, 42 flat-bed Business Class seats and 8 luxurious First Class demi-cabins, offering the highest standards of comfort, service and privacy.
Amelia Syafrina Dewi Nasution, Garuda's Vice President Marketing, announced the new route during a visit to UK last week.
"When the new service begins in October this year, this will be the first non-stop scheduled service between Jakarta and London. Schedules and fares are now being finalised, and full details will be announced before the flights go on sale in April."
Over the past four years Garuda has made great improvements to its products and services with major new investment from the Indonesian Government in "Project Quantum Leap" which aims to position the carrier among the world's highest quality airlines. Early results of this project have already yielded a host of international awards, including "Best Regional Airline in the World" from Skytrax, and "Best In-flight Food in Asia Pacific", beating highly-rated Singapore Airlines.
The new London service is tailored to meet the needs of the burgeoning business travel market between UK and Indonesia. As well as offering the fastest journey time between the two capital cities, the long haul flights will connect seamlessly to Garuda's extensive domestic network, which provides unequalled access to the 17000 islands of the Indonesian archipelago
