Hainan, American Airlines to codeshare

Hainan Airlines and American Airlines have signed an agreement to codeshare on each other’s flights, and offer reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.

American will now place its AA code on several of Hainan Airlines’ domestic Chinese flights connecting to American’s direct Chicago-Beijing flights. American will also codeshare on Hainan-operated flights between Beijing and Seattle.

Hainan Airlines meanwhile, will place its HU code on several American services from Seattle, as well as on American’s services between Shanghai and Chicago/Los Angeles and between Beijing and Chicago.

“By strengthening and broadening our presence in China through our relationship with Hainan Airlines, American will be better positioned to deliver enhanced benefits to our joint customers,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“This agreement has the potential to make traveling between China and the United States – and beyond – considerably more attractive for our customers with improved connections and increased frequent flyer benefits,” said Hou Wei, Hainan Airlines' Chief Marketing Officer.
