Low cost carrier AirAsia Indonesia on Tuesday expanded into
eastern Indonesia with direct flights from Jakarta and Balikpapan, East
Kalimantan, to Makassar, South Sulawesi, beginning Dec. 17.
"As
the year is ending, we are proudly launching our sixth hub in Indonesia,

Jakarta - Makassar routes, twice a day," Air Asia Indonesia president
director Dharmadi said.
Dharmadi added that the company had two
Airbus A320 aircraft to serve the routes from and to Sultan Hasanuddin

Makassar is one of the major

optimistic that the new routes will boost the local economy and tourism,
as well as opening new jobs for local people," he said.
