Domestic full service carrier Pacific Royale Airways has announced
that it has temporary halted operations, just months after starting
service in June.
“We need to halt our operations because we plan to change our business plan,” Pacific Royale sales manager Dede Hartono told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
Dede said that the airline grounded its three Fokker 50s at its hubs in Surabaya, East Java, and Batam, Riau Islands, in early October.
“It is not because of a financial crisis in our company. We have to stop operations, because we need a new business plan that will bring more benefits to the company and customers,” he said.
Pacific Royale is 51 percent owned by local businessman Gunarni Gunawan and 49 percent owned by Indian investor Tarun Trika.
The airline offered flights between Surabaya and Bandung, West Java; Pangkalan, North Sumatra; and Semarang, West Java; and Batam and Padang, West Sumatra; and Jambi.
According to its old business plan, Pacific Royale planned to use five F50s for feeder routes and four Airbus A320s single-aisle aircraft and one Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft for domestic and international flights.
