TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The
National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) will announce the
results of their investigation into the crash of the Sukhoi Superjet-100
in two weeks time. "We plan to publish it on Dec. 18," said chairman of
the Aviation Subcommittee of KNKT, Masruri, on Dec. 9.
He explained that, based on procedures, once investigations had concluded, a draft of the report was sent to Russia (where the super jet was made), France (where the engines were made), the United States (where some of the components were made), and the Indonesian government, the Transportation Ministry. KNKT will publish the results of the crash investigation after receiving responses from them.
According to Masuri, Russia did not seem to have further input, while the United States and France had so far expressed no objection to the results of investigations by KNKT.
Sukhoi Superjet 100 is the first passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi Aircraft, in collaboration with American and European airlines, including, Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace, and Honeywell.
It comes under the medium-distance route category with a passenger capacity of less than 100 people. It can travel a distance of 3,048 miles to 4,578 miles with a height of 12,200 feet above sea level.
A Sukhoi Superjet 100 crashed on Mount Salak in May. When it disappeared from radar, its coordinates were 06:43’08” seconds south latitude and 106.43’15” east longitude. The plane lost contact at around 14:33 after flying for 30 minutes on May 9.
