United Airlines will start daily non-stop service on its new 787 Dreamliner from Los Angeles to Tokyo on Thursday.
The flight was previously operated by a 777.
United Airlines flight 32 will depart L.A. at 11:15 a.m., arriving in Tokyo at 4:10 the next day. The return flight will leave Tokyo at 5:55 a.m. and arrive in L.A. at 10:35 a.m. the same day.
The Dreamliner has 36 seats in business/first class, 70 in economy plus and 113 seats in economy.
"We are delighted to offer our customers in Los Angeles and Tokyo the comfort and spectacular flying experience of our new Boeing Dreamliner aircraft," Jim Mueller, vice president of Atlantic and Pacific sales, said in a written statement.
