JAKARTA: PT GMF Aero Asia will build four hangars in the next 5 years
with US$160 million-US$200 million investments to increase the
maintenance capacity for aircraft in Indonesia.
GMF AeroAsia President Director Richard Budihadianto said the hangar that is being built in Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cengkareng is not part of the four new hangars.
“There will be four new hangars in the next 5 years to increase the maintenance capacity for our client’s aircrafts,” he told Bisnis, Friday (11/8).
Two hangars will be constructed in Medan South Sumatra, one hangar in Makassar South Sulawesi, and another one in Cengkareng Banten.
Therefore, the subsidiary of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk will have eight hangars in the next 5 years.
Richard is optimistic the additional hangars will boost aircraft maintenance capacity to at least 200 aircrafts a year.
Up to now, the company has 60 clients from aviation industries in more than 40 countries and five continents.
GMF already has three hangars plus one hangar that is currently under construction process in Cengkareng.
As planned, the fourth hangar could accommodate 16 units of narrow body aircraft, such as Airbus 320 and Boeing 737. (T06/msw)
