Airport management company Angkasa Pura II said that it will improve
all airports under the company's management to accommodate the Open Sky
policy in 2015.
"Out of 13 airports that we have, we will improve them all, especially our backbone airport for the Open Sky policy: the Kuala Namu Airport in Medan and Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta," said Angkasa Pura II CEO Tri Sunoko, during the Asia Pacific Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (Canso) meeting on Tuesday, May 7.
Tri said that airports in Indonesia must learn and apply benchmarking to international airports. Tri added that one of the airports that can be referred to by Indonesian airports is the Incheon Airport in Korea. Incheon Airport has been named as the best airport in the world for seven times since 2005.
To accommodate the Open Sky policy, Angkasa Pura II has conducted recruitment processes. In addition, the company also sends its employees abroad to study international airports. Tri believes that internship and benchmarking of international airports are essential to successfully implements the Open Sky policy.
"The need to see the actual operation of an airport, not just by the book," Tri continued.
