A day after posting 50 new orders on its Web site, Boeing added a sale of six 777-300ER jets to China Airlines, the flag carrier of Taiwan.
The order is approximately $2 billion at list prices. According to market pricing data from consulting firm Avitas, the real value after standard discounts is about half that.
These are the first 777s in the China Airlines fleet. The airline also said it will lease four new 777s from GECAS, the airplane leasing unit of GE, with those deliveries beginning in 2014.
The airline is renewing its long-haul fleet and will use the 777s to replace older 747-400s. It plans to fly the planes on new transpacific flights between North America and Asia.
