NEW DELHI, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Air India will set-up a maintenance,
repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Nagpur, Maharashtra, India's
leading industrial state.
The facility would carry out MRO on the engines of Boeing-787 and Boeing-777 aircraft, Minister for Civil Aviation, Ajit Singh said.
It was reported that the facility, located next to Nagpur airport, would be ready in the second quarter of calendar year 2013.
After a long delay, Air India took delivery of its first 787 Boeing Dreamliner on Thursday. This is the first of the 27 similar fleet that the carrier has ordered.
In a separate statement, Ajit said 65 pilots had been selected to fly the Dreamliner aircraft.
The criteria adopted for their selection are that the pilot should be less than 53 years as on May 1, 2012 to be able to serve Air India for a minimum of five years after the training.
